Changing IT providers can feel risky because the business often does not know what access exists, what documentation is missing or how cooperative the current provider will be.

Start by understanding the current setup
The first stage is to identify the systems, providers, admin accounts, devices, backups and business priorities already in place. The goal is visibility, not immediate change.
Prepare the handover
Access should be confirmed, provider contacts recorded and responsibilities explained before the new arrangement takes over. This reduces the chance of a gap in support or a critical service being overlooked.
Stabilise before improving
Support continuity, security, backups and urgent faults come first. Broader improvements should be prioritised and delivered in stages once the environment is understood.
A new provider should not arrive and immediately replace everything. The first job is to understand what must keep working.
